【The world is yours. Go forth】Sharing Series | Join us to read the “Memoirs of Hong Kong and Macau”

November 30, 2022, Quanzhou Vocational and Technical University held a sharing session in room A301 on the theme of “Study in Hong Kong and Macau”. As part of the series “The world is yours. Go forth！”, attracted more than 500 students to attend offline and online simultaneously. Ms. Xu Jing, English teacher from the General Education School, was invited as the guest speaker to share her study experience in Hong Kong and Macau.

Ms. Xu studied English in Macau University of Science and Technology for undergraduate degree, and pursued master’s degree in Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a major called “Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages”. She introduced her study in Hong Kong and Macau from four aspects, including campus life, travel tips, cultural differences, and life lessons. The students were fascinated by her vivid speech content and interesting photos.

“After reading so many books and seeing so many magnificent mountains and seas, I decided to return to my ordinary hometown and lead a normal life. What is the meaning of reading?”, she asked. “The meaning of reading varies from person to person. For me, it changed my way of thinking. Through reading, I become more tolerant and open-minded with an enhanced ability to perform dialectical analysis and independent thinking.” she added.

In the final Q&A session, students asked questions including how to apply for a postgraduate program in Hong Kong and Macau, what the necessities of life are like in Macau, travel precautions, memorable events during the study, and where to get a job after graduation. A student said that “Through this event, I learned about the environment in Macau, and the fierce academic competition makes me understand that I shouldn’t live four years in the university without a goal.”
